He is the founder and Chief Instructor of Blue Life Karate and Fitness Centers. He holds the Rank of 7th Degree Black Belt in the art of Ninjutsu and the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt in Freestyle Jujitsu. In addition, Howard is an long time student of other systems of martial arts. He teaches Vee-Arnis-Jujitsu, Petiki Tersia Kali, Tae Kwon Do, and Sport Karate. In his quest to to become proficient in his Martial Arts training, he is a believer that the skills needed to succeed in Martial Arts training are the same to succeed in life. Howard is very well known for his ability to relate to children. Mr. Howard has won numerous Karate Championships in his career. He was the Garden State Games Karate State Champion in Men's fighting, Self defense and Weapons divisions 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2006. He Was the W.K.U. World Fighting Champion 1996, 1997, and 1998. He won First place at the New Jersey AAU Karate Championship Mens Heavyweight Kumite (fighting) Division in 2001. Also won Grand Champion at the 2001 World Hwa Rang Do Championship tounament and the Men's Heavyweight Championship Division at the 23rd Maryland Open National Karate Championship in 2005.
Durand Howard was inducted into the 1996 World Karate Union Hall of Fame, named The Outstanding Weapons Competitor of the year, was inducted into the 1998 Garden State Games Karate Hall of Fame, and named School Of The Year. In 2005, he was honored as a U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Famer, named the Ninjutsu Master Of The Year, and Inducted into The 2005 Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame Spirit Award for his contributions to the Martial Arts. Durand Howard is also a member of The Martial Arts Teachers Association (MATA) and a member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA).
